GRVE LAMINATION JOINT

GRVE LAMINATION JOINT

I am proud to be one of the first engineers in apply this technology in Venezuela and in Latin America.

GRVE LAMINATION JOINT is the process of joining two GRVE pipes by using a mixture of chemical and different types of rolled fiber material.

Special procedures have to be used in order to achieve the goals proposed. Safety is very important in the activities involved in this technology.

GRVE Lamination Joints are going to be applied in the RPLC DEEP CONVERSION PROJECT.

In this type of joints, the plain pipe ends are brought together, after abrading the outer surface. Joints are prepared by over-laminating with alternate layers of chopped strand matt and woven roving glass fiber and resin. Although cheaper from raw materials viewpoint than adhesive joints, butt and wrap joints are more labour-intensive and need specially trained personel to make on-site.

TIPS ABOUT

*Fully restrained
*Most reliable joining method
*Excellent mechanical properties by utilizing the same materials in the pipe, the butt & strap has axial and bending strengths equal to or greater than the pipe
*No special tooling required
*When exposed to certain fire conditions, a fire retardant version of the joint may not require additional passive fire protection
*Can have a higher first time cost
*Labor intensive
*Some installation experience required
*NDT limited to visual inspection, cure testing, and hydrotesting
